A creativity Booster …or is it?

I recently came across this social media call from Tebbs Contemporary Gallery, for a collage project. This sounded like a perfect opportunity to kick start my creativity after this very long slump.

The call requires one to purchase a collage pack to work from, get inspired by, use or not use, at the cost of £20. Each pack is different. The artwork can be physical or digital and the project has very clear deadlines. The artwork will be featured in a publication, and online exhibition, and 20% of the proceeds will go to the cats protection charity.

This all sounded accessible to me and somewhat stress free, with the added bonus of contributing to the welfare of cats. And that was what helped me click that button and purchased the pack!

The pack and email communication arrived very quickly after that.

The presentation of the call and the work of the gallery gave me both confidence and slight panic that I was getting myself into something fairly serious and may…I shouldn’t have. However, this comes with no real pressure once the pack is purchased.

I went through a series of very different feelings and reactions when the pack arrived. Interesting material!, Is this for real?!, Challenging!, Actually artists should be able to work with anything, and here is the real challenge for someone so deed in the creative hole of nothingness.

I welcome the challenge and hope to make work I will be pleased with.
